The Arribada has been declared a Festival of National Tourist Interest. It was the second Galician festival to obtain such recognition. A year earlier, the Cocido de Lalín festival was recognized as the first Galician celebration of tourist interest.

Arrival, when Europe learned of the discovery of America

Martín Alonso Pinzón sailed alongside Christopher Columbus in one of the greatest adventures in history, as captain of La Pinta.

His arrival at the helm of La Pinta in Baiona anticipated that of Columbus himself on his arrival in Lisbon. Therefore, it was in Baiona when it was first known in Europe that the expedition had reached the New World. (Whatsapp coverage was scarce at the time ;-).

In this event has therefore, its origin this baionesa festivity of La Arribada.

Arribada 2023, a video presentation of the spectacular party and digital news

The Concello de Baiona has made a spectacular video presentation of the XXVII Fiesta de la Arribada 2023, made by Marta González Pérez.

The video shows images of the village and of last year’s edition, the first one held without restrictions after the pandemic.

The Arribada 2023 party will also be the most digital in history.

The Concellería de Turismo of this town has launched an innovative initiative so that the festival can be followed virtually from anywhere in the world. On the website of the Concello de Baiona you can get more information about this curious initiative.
