Ons is an archipelago located at the entrance of the Ría de Pontevedra.
It has a land area of 2,171 maritime hectares and 470 terrestrial hectares, for a total of 4,458 km.2 and geographically they are located at 42º 22′ north latitude and 8º 56′ west longitude. It is located in the Rías Baixas and for social reasons -and not of proximity- they belong to the municipality of Bueu, in the province of Pontevedra (Galicia, Spain); specifically to the parish of Beluso, where the old settlers were from.

For visit the island of Ons there are two ways: by private boat, for which it is necessary to apply for an anchoring permitor with a shipping company during the summer, weekends in May and Easter. On board of these catamarans you can observe the Pontevedra estuary, inhabited by different varieties of algae, fish and rock formations.

Acuña House was founded in 1945 by Jesús Acuña, the island’s cabezalero. It has always been a meeting place for all sailors, and thanks to the pairing of Jesús (with the nets) and his wife Rosa (in the kitchen), it has become the best restaurant in the island.

The four hiking trails described below are located in the Isla de Onssince the entire Ons Island -minus the beaches- is catalogued as a reserve zone. All of them start from the information point in As Dornas, next to the pier, where you can get any information about the routes and other aspects of interest.
Lodging in Ons Island
In the Ons Island, Casa Acuña has a guesthouse with double rooms with bathroom and apartments with several rooms each, bathroom, kitchen, living room and green area. They can be rented by the day, week or month, and the price varies according to the length of stay. In addition, the camping of the island of Ons was created in response to the need to adapt the camping area of the island of Ons, located in the area known as Chan da Pólvora.

Parque Nacional Marítimo-Terrestre das Illas Atlánticas de Galicia (Galician Atlantic Islands National Maritime-Terrestrial Park)
Since 2002, the Island of Ons belongs to the National Maritime-Terrestrial Park of the Atlantic Islands of Galicia but in the past they were a refuge for pirates.
They have always been inhabited and currently have a permanent population of 78 inhabitants, according to the 2010 census.

A tour of the beaches of Ons Island
The archipelago of Ons has five sandy beaches, almost virgin. Half of them are on the eastern façade of the Ons Islandand from north to south are Melide (the largest and most nudist), de Dornas (on the north side of the pier), Area dos Cans (the most central and crowded), Canexol (under the castro and the cemetery) and Pereiró (the southernmost). On the western side – facing the Atlantic – are the stony sandy beaches of Fontiñas and Liñeiro, to the south is the beach of Fedorento, and on the northern islet of the archipelago is the beach of North ounce y South Onza.
