Getting to know Team Nabia. Patricia Fernández: “There is nothing like being thanked by a client for the experience”.
Patricia Fernández works in the commercial department of Naviera Nabia. It is in charge of organizing calendars, dates and activities requested by the hundreds of groups that have already trusted Nabia to discover our environment, history and culture. Thanks to her, our boats are filled with life and stories, and there is nothing that makes you happier at work than the thanks of a customer.
Why did you choose the world of the sea?
I was offered to join the staff of the shipping company right after I finished my studies. It would be one of my first work experiences. Although it was originally a summer job, it was a whole world to discover, so I accepted. It is clear that the sea, for those of us who are close to it, has something that hooks us.
What is your job at Naviera Nabia?
Right now, I belong to the commercial department. I am in charge of the management and marketing of school groups and ANPAS. In addition, I provide support to other departments, such as customer service or dynamization.
What do you like most about your job?
The best thing is the satisfaction of a job well done, when the client sends us his thanks and positive experiences of the trip.
Your favorite island? Why?
The island of Sálvora! For the environment, its history and the tranquility that you breathe when you are there.
Tell us a curiosity about one of the islands we visited.
Sálvora Island is one of the archipelagos that make up the National Maritime-Terrestrial Park of the Atlantic Islands of Galicia. It is, together with Cortegada, the one with the smallest number of visitors. It can only be visited by 250 people per day. Between the lighthouse – which since September 2017 no longer has the figure of the lighthouse keeper – and the village, only native breed horses and deer spend the night on the island, in addition to the keepers who look after it.
Why should a passenger choose Nabia to discover the islands?
According to the surveys obtained, and after many years of experience, we have found that we stand out, above all, in the friendliness and treatment of the personnel towards the client (both land personnel and the crew of the ships).
Another point that makes us different is that we do not only offer a boat trip, but we make you live an authentic experience, as for example, on the Mussel Routewhere the passengers finish the route with a first initiation to Galician dance or even in the visit to San Simon IslandThe experience of our guides is worth gold: they transmit the history of the island to the passengers who visit it, even making them shed a few tears.
