8M in the Atlantic Islands: special trip to Ons and Sálvora as a tribute to women of the sea

This March 8, 2026, on the occasion of International Women’s Day, Piratas de Nabia is organizing a special trip to Ons Island and Sálvora Island to pay tribute to the women who marked the history of these island territories.

A unique experience that combines navigation on the Pontevedra estuary, guided routes with a gender perspective and historical dissemination in the heart of the Maritime-Terrestrial National Park of the Atlantic Islands of Galicia.

A different 8M trip: memory, sea and women – 2 islands in one day

For centuries, the women of Ons and Sálvora were the true mainstay of life on the islands. Their efforts were key to the survival and development of these Atlantic communities. However, their role hardly appears in the official accounts.

This commemorative trip of 8M in Galicia seeks to recover this collective memory and highlight its legacy, offering a different view of the island’s history.

Guided visit to Ons Island and Sálvora Island in the same day.

  • Round trip by boat from Bueu
  • Guided tour in Ons Island
  • Guided tour in Sálvora Island
  • Activity developed under responsible tourism criteria

This is an exceptional opportunity to visit two islands of the National Park in the same day, something unusual, and to do so with a different cultural and social content.

Responsible tourism in the Atlantic Islands National Park:

The activity is developed respecting the conservation criteria of the Parque Nacional Marítimo-Terrestre das Illas Atlánticas de Galicia, reaffirming our commitment to:

  • Environmental sustainability
  • Respect for the natural environment
  • Dissemination of historical and human heritage

From Piratas de Nabia we are committed to a tourism that not only shows spectacular landscapes, but also tells the stories of those who inhabited them.

Gastronomic option: Galician stew in Ons

To complete the experience, we offer the possibility of enjoying a traditional Galician stew at Casa Acuña restaurant. A proposal that would add 29€ more to the price of the trip.
