The A Porta Lighthouse Trail through the south of the island of Montefaro
The A Porta Lighthouse Trail is a pleasant trek that always looks out over the sea. It also sets out from the information booth and follows the same route as the Monte Faro Trail (dike – campsite – interpretation centre) until the crossroads at Nosa Señora Beach, with the islet of Penela dos Viños in front. There, get on the track that will bring you to the Carnacido jetty. You’ll begin a gentle climb along the southern coast until the A Porta Lighthouse—the perfect lookout point to San Martiño Island and the rocky landscape of Freu da Porta. From the Punta do Canabal, you’ll see the castro of As Hortas (the most important archaeological remains on the archipelago), facing north on the slope of the Cíes Lighthouse.
